About our data
Is my VIN report really free?

Yes. Vehicle specifications and public recall notices are free to view. You do not need an account or credit card. Advertising helps cover the cost of running the site.

What does the free report include?

Your report includes available manufacturer-reported information such as year, make, model, trim, engine, fuel, body style, and assembly location, plus public recall campaigns matched by model year, make, and model. Fields vary by vehicle and source coverage.

Does this include accident or title history?

No. A VIN decoder identifies the vehicle’s factory specifications. It does not establish accident, theft, salvage, ownership, or title history. Our free report makes these limits clear.

Does a recall notice mean my vehicle has an open recall?

Not necessarily. Our notices match a vehicle’s year, make, and model. To check whether a recall applies to your exact VIN and whether repairs remain open, use NHTSA’s official VIN recall tool or contact the manufacturer.

Why are some vehicle details missing?

NHTSA’s decoded information is reported by manufacturers. A field may be unavailable or not applicable. A missing field does not prove that a vehicle lacks that feature.
